This event is an amazing opportunity to see a variety of dance works and support some great causes! \nSince the inception of Celebration of Dance\, the event has helped raised more than $40\,000 for charities! \nThis year\, on May 20\, 2025\, we will be hosting the 21st Annual Event of Celebration of Dance and raising funds to support the Barrie Foodbank!

DESCRIPTION:Audition Information: \nSimcoe Contemporary Dancers is holding our annual auditions for professional company member and apprentice (14+) positions for our 2025-2026 season! \nWe’re seeking passionate contemporary dance artists who are eager to perform and grow with a collaborative and community-rooted company. \nWe are committed to fostering an inclusive environment and welcome individuals from equity-deserving groups\, including those from diverse cultural backgrounds\, LGBTQ2S+ communities\, and persons with disabilities to audition. \nWe ask that you please pre-register here and arrive at least 15 minutes ahead of the audition start time (6:20 pm) to warm-up and complete our participation waiver and image release forms. \nWe look forward to dancing with you soon! \nCommitment: \nThe weekly time commitment for both professional company members and apprentices is approximately 3 hours per week. Weekly company class runs from 10:30-11:30 on Sundays from September to June (excluding holiday weekends). Attendance at weekly class is required. Rehearsals may follow from 11:30-1:30 depending on casting. The weekly time commitment may increase during performance weeks. All company members and apprentices must be available Friday\, March 27 and Saturday\, March 28 for SCD’s production\, Momentum\, at the Five Points Theatre in Barrie. \nAudition Schedule: \n6:00 – 6:15 pm – Arrival \n6:20 – 7:20 pm – Audition class including warm-up\, centre and across the floor practice\, choreography combination\, and improvisation tasks. \n7:30 – 8:30 pm – 10-Minute Individual Interviews

Through movement\, we explore the powerful forces that shape our lives from grief to joy and everything in between. \nThis show is rooted in the belief that storytelling through dance is a way for us all to connect. Each piece in our program offers a glimpse into the human experience. These works are deeply personal and we hope that you can see yourself throughout. \nAs performers\, we are bringing our truest selves to the stage. These choreographies are shaped not only by steps but by the emotions we feel and the stories we carry. In this way\, Momentum becomes more than a performance it becomes a mirror. \nWe all carry stories and by sharing ours\, we remember that we are not alone. Let us move and be moved.

SUMMARY:22nd Annual Celebration of Dance
DESCRIPTION:SCD is thrilled to announce that we are hosting the 22nd Annual Celebration of Dance on May 19\, 2026 at 6:30 pm at Georgian Theatre! \nCelebration of Dance is a special fundraising event where SCD invites dancers from all over Simcoe County to come together to raise money for a local charity. This event is an amazing opportunity to see a variety of dance styles and unique choreography while supporting a worthy cause. \nSince the inception of Celebration of Dance\, the event has raised over $45\,000 for charities! \nThis year we will be hosting Celebration of Dance in support of Glowing Hearts Charity – an organization whose focus is to disrupt the cycle of poverty by providing programs that reduce barriers and support the mental health\, growth\, and development of school-age children and youth in Simcoe County.
